The nine holes that give personality and tradition to the course are situated around the farmhouse,
opography . The presence of two big lakes come into play on holes 5, 6, 8 and 9. If the head plays with the heart the water will not penalize the player, instead it contributes to rhythm and beauty of the game.
The nine holes that make up Lagos are watermarked. Water in-front and at either side affects five holes. The 8th hole , a par 3 of 160 meters, is known for ” The demon” . The water feature is on the right side and accompanies the player from tee to green. It is a very difficult hole as halfway through you will find wateralso on your left side and as a top-up there is a large bunker protecting the green. Secure players will go staight for the green and the player knowing its limitations will opt for a middle long stroke reaching the green with the second shot instead of sending the ball into the lake. The existing lakes in this part of the course have become over time to protected waters due to the wide variety of aquatic birds found in them.
The last nine holes incorporated in the course are known to “New 9” and talk the player over undulating terrain with 3 Par 5 and lakes where the amateur player will find it a callenge to reach the green with three strokes. There is no water and the breathtaking views of the Sierra Calderona contribute to the beauty of this particular part of the course. The Top Tourist Attractions in Valencia
València is unique for infinite reasons, let us tell you just a few!
For its 300+ days of Sunshine
Valencia offers 300 days of sun per year with an average temperature of almost 18º. The perfect climate to discover the city, while walking under blue skies and stopping now and again at a sunny terrace. A plan so simple that you’ll love!
For its Beaches
Beaches with blue flags to make them even better! In Valencia there’s 7 kilometres of beach to choose from, whether you prefer the fun of urban beaches, with all types of services and a great atmosphere or the tranquillity of natural beaches at the Albufera Park.
For its Mediterranean Cuisine
Although paella is an international dish, you probably haven’t tried one as good as the ones here. So, don’t leave without having a real Valencian paella and discovering all that our cuisine has to offer: all types of rice dishes, traditional fish and seafood stews, excellent wines, horchata (with pastry fartons to dip, of course) and spectacular citrus fruits. Is your mouth watering just reading about it? Don’t miss Valencia Cuina Abierta Restaurant Week, the city’s most important gastronomic event.
Do a route to try Tapas and Beer
Grilled cuttlefish, steamed mussels, Serrano ham, clams, “esgarraet”, baby squid, patatas bravas… If it’s already making your mouth water, just wait until you try them! You can start the route at the stalls of Plaza del Mercado, continue past the Lonja steps, the Plaza del Collado, Plaza Negrito and Calle Caballeros, finishing at Plaza de la Virgen.
Have a Horchata and Fartons (Best in Daniel Alboraya - its birthplace)
There’s no better place to have this popular drink made from “chufa” a fruit that is only grown in Valencia. Have it for breakfast or for a snack, either liquid or as a sorbet texture, and remember to ask for “fartons” to dip which will sweeten your day. You can try it at any time because, just like Vampire Weekend sang, you can drink horchata in December too!
For its Festivals and Traditions
Noise, music, gunpowder, colour and creativity are the main components of ite celebrations. And in Valencia, there’s always something to celebrate! From 15th to 19th March, the city is taken over by Fallas celebrations (declared Intangible World Heritage by UNESCO), although there are other celebrations that shouldn’t be missed either: Semana Santa Marinera (Easter week by the sea), the Virgen de los Desamparados move, the Valencian Corpus and the July Festival. Make a note in your diary!
For being an avant-garde symbol
València is a constantly evolving city. A city that showcases its historic past while being adventurous with large 21st century constructions. If you are interested in architecture, then the City of Arts and Sciences by Santiago Calatrava, the Convention Centre by Norman Foster and the Veles e Vents building by David Chipperfield are musts. Other modern spaces worth visiting are the MUVIM museum, the Exhibition Centre (Feria Valencia), the Palau de la Música and the IVAM museum.
For its 2000 years of History & Monuments
Founded in 138B.C. by the Romans, València is an overlap of Roman, Visigothic, Muslim and Medieval cultures. Indications of this are iconic monuments such as the Silk Exchange (declared a Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO), the Almoina, The Serrrano and Quart towers and the Cathedral. Beyond the architectural, the Tribunal de las Aguas (founded in the year 1000 and recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage, is a vestige of the past which can be witnessed every Thursday at 12:00 under the Apostles Gate at the Cathedral of Valencia.
For its green Spaces
València is full of surprises, like the river that has been transformed into a lush 9-kilometre-long park through the city for all types of leisure activities and sports. The old river bed of the River Turia is a meeting point for Valencian people and tourists which can be enjoyed from morning to evening. Another of our most iconic and interesting natural spaces is the Albufera Park, just 10km away from the centre. There are spectacular sunsets there, which can be enjoyed even more with a boat trip.
For its Events - Concerts - Football - Motor GP - Shopping Facilities
València intense commerce is a fusion of tradition and modernity. Spend an afternoon shopping in the historic centre, el Carmen, Ruzafa or Eixample, and choose from international brands and creations of Valencian designers which are sure to surprise you.
